Do your friends and loved ones sometimes seem like they arent themselves? If so, there’s a good chance they’re actually homicidal aliens. That’s the uncomfortable situation in this week’s MOVIES YA MIGHTA MISSED MONDAY, the 1978 iteration of the classic sci-fi nightmare INVASION OF THE BODY SNATCHERS. The Evil ETs launch an attack by beaming down spores to Earth, which grow into perfect zombie replicas of living humans. While the victims sleep, they’re killed and replaced by the alien copies. Health inspector Matthew (Donald Sutherland) and his colleague Elizabeth (Brooke Adams) discover what’s going on, and try their best to find a way to combat the rapidly mutating army of blank-eyed humanoids. This INVASION is one of four, count ‘em four, adaptations of the 1955 Jack Finney novel titled more straightforwardly “The Body Snatchers.” This is one of the better ones, with a bleak tone that fits the material very well, some visceral shock moments, and a rising sense of dread. Best of all, it’s got a nasty gut punch of an ending that puts the perfect cap on the story. It’s not the little green men that’ll threaten our doom; rather, those weird spores will take us out while we sleep. Pleasant dreams! #movies #horror #SciFi https://youtube/watch?v=4Y4dv1TWv5M
