Does Mayor Stothert know how cities work? She vetoes funding for an Active Living Manager, The Black History Museum, sustainability consulting, and the PUBLIC LIBRARY (!!) but approves funding for more police officers?! First, does she ever drive east of Westroads or north of Dodge St. (Or south of Harrison, for that matter)? Secondly, does she know what kind of racially charged message shes sending with this action - particularly given recent national events. I know a strong police force is important, and I have great respect for most of the work they do, but do you really think the best way to address some of the citys biggest problems is to ignore the health, culture, environment, and education of the people in favor of hiring more people to manage those who act out due to their lack of basic necessities, which their city is not helping to provide?
