Does anyone have any ideas for controlling a feral colony? My mom agreed to take on 4 relocated feral cats a few years ago in exchange for NMHPs helping her to trap and fix a stray with kittens she found. Unfortunately, since she started feeding the original 8, several others have shown up and continue to show up. Shes got three new sets of kittens now. I try to help trap when I can but dont always have the ability to. Shes been taking them to the shelter because she simply cant afford to feed so many. Shes also recently been unable to lift the trap (shes in her early 70s). They are now developing the land behind her and so many cats are showing up. She was screamed at by NMHPs for taking new ones to the shelter when she asked them for help. Shes emotionally drained from it and physically not able to trap any more. I can only do so much with work and kids. Were completely at a loss on how to keep up and control it. Its incredibly stressful for her. Shes trying to do right by the cats she has but its too much. Any thoughts?
