Does anyone have experience with a hind limb suspensory ligament injury and how did you rehab it? My 19 yr. old gelding was kicked two months ago on his right hind and it swelled up. The vet came right out and said said there wasnt anything broken and it was likely a popped splint. I wrapped it, buted him, and hosed it twice a day for about 10 days. Since then he has just been on stall rest with some light handwalking. He is sound at the walk, but is off at the trot. His leg has no heat or pain when palpated, but there is some thickness on the outside above his fetlock and I am starting to suspect a suspensory injury. I am going to have the vet out next week, but just wanted to see what you input you guys had.
