Does anyone like poetry? I wrote this when I was a young man, memorized it and quoted it in a sermon I preached on the love of God. Use it if you wish. What Wondrous Love What wondrous love when Christ reached up To take the Fathers hand On Calvarys cross he drank the cup To link Gods hand with man Naked, sinful sorrowful I And no one seemed to care But then I heard that Christ had died To take my dark despair Oh love of God that cost so much That Christs own blood was spilled If just one drop my soul should touch My sins would all be healed Haltingly, tremblingly I came And to my God I cried With one great stroke He took my blame And drew me to His side How can I tell of this great love Which broke the chains of sin For Ive been cleansed by heavens dove And now He dwells within What wondrous love Heavens jewel came To suffer for my sake How can I seek the Worlds acclaim And not my Savior take? For Him who gave His all for me Ill gladly give my all And strive to labor faithfully Until my name He calls And when at last I see the face Of Him who loved me so Ill praise Him for His love and grace While ceaseless ages roll Hallelujah to Christ Ill shout I adore thee heavenly king On heavens streets Ill dance about And all His praises sing. Wondrous love will be my song Throughout eternity Ill sing it with that blood washed throng Christ Jesus died for me!
