Does everyone remember Rusty, the Miniature Dachshund who suffered an injury that left him paralyzed in his hind legs? He lives an awesome life with his amazing owners who gave him a chance to be a normal dog again, just with the help of a wheelchair! Well...Rusty definitely deserves the Superstar of the Day Award (or even Superstar of the Year!) and heres why... Rusty has been coming to see Dr. Hudye since August 2013. He comes to see Dr. Hudye for regular check ups and to learn new rehabilitation exercises to try to increase the function in his back legs. He had been making slow progressions each time he came, but today, Rusty gave us the best surprise - he swam and walked on his own in the underwater treadmill for the first time in 11 months!! We are all SO proud of Rusty and are grateful for his owners optimism and determination. They never gave up on him and Rusty never gave up on himself. We, obviously, took a video of his amazing progression! Note: Dr. Hudye holds onto Rustys tail to add stimulation, resulting in increased hind leg movement! Its like a built in rudder! :)
