Dogs DAmour - How Come It Never Rains :- Heres another tune by a band that I helped road crew for once. I have to be honest and say that I wasnt ever a fan of theirs at all but that day and the gig sticks in my mind for various reasons. First of all it was one of the rare gigs that was being put on at the Top Rank Suite at the bottom of West Street in Brighton. Quite a small venue at the time. Secondly, during setting up the equipment that afternoon the drum technician somehow managed to break the kick drum (bass drum) foot pedal. Oddly they did not have a spare and I was singled out (because I knew the area), given the broken pedal as well as £350 cash and told they didnt care how but I was to get it fixed somehow. I ran through the streets of Brighton to the North Laines where there used to be a large yellow building that was a drum shop. I threw money at the man behind the counter, handed him the pedal and said Id be back in a couple of hours. Fortunately for me and for the band they got it fixed and I got a large pat on the back and a bonus from the crew boss. The third thing I remember is that the singer Tyla downed two bottles of Jack Daniels on his own backstage before walking out and doing the show. Mental.
