Doing the business end of the business, youre damned if you do and damned if you dont. If youre not successful, you were no good at it. If you are successful, you must be a thief. The best of us, like George Wien, have spent time on the stage and know how much better great has to be. You hide your ego, and try to hold the delicate egos of the great artists. together, and sober or straight long enough for them to succeed. The majority of them are callous and fickle and eventually treat you like the scorpion on the back of the turtle carrying them across the river. It is rare to find an artist with the talent, backbone, soul and consciousness to remember you after your immediate usefulness.
