It was a boring town if you were young. But one thing you could always do is ride around on the many back roads in Pisgah Forest and the surrounding areas. There was always a trail, waterfall, swimming hole or just something beautiful to see. One of our favorite things was to ride up the mountain to Pretty Place late at night. A big open chapel on the side of the mountain where you could be in NC but see the lights of Greenville SC. When it was warm you could guarantee there would be heat lightening flashing around the sky. We would take a ride up there at least one night a week and sit and talk for hours.
