Dont forget Mga Uod at Rosas Screening and Open Forum on November 15, 1 - 4PM Starring Nora Aunor, Lorna Tolentino, and Johnny Delgado, the film adaption of Mga Uod at Rosas written by novelist and screenwriter Edgardo M. Reyes, won Best Cinematography at the 1983 Gaward Urian Awards. The film follows Ding (Delgado), an artist navigating within the artworld, torn between two women vying for his affection: Socorro (Aunor) and Nina (Tolentino). The screening will be followed by an open forum with Romy Suzara, the films director, and Teddy Co, film critic. We will also screen Lena Cobangbangs The Making of a Bad Copy (2005), a short film she created in response to Mga Uod at Rosas. It was shown at Cinema Purgatoryo (2005), curated by Katya Guerrero, at the NCCA Gallery, Intramuros, and at Raping the Muse (2012) at Galerie Zimmermann Kratochwill (AT). Registration fee is P135 (P115 for students and members of the museum’s membership program). It comes with a free admission and guided tour of the current exhibition. Gourmet Farms Inc. will serve freshly brewed coffee during the event. About the speakers ROMY V. SUZARA, DGPI belongs to a breed of Filipino directors who had a formal training in filmmaking. He studied at the RCA Institute of Technology in New York, USA. He initiated the creation and became a one-time Vice President of Directors Guild of the Philippines (DGPI). He presently serves as a member of the DGPI Board of Directors since 1983. He also served as a Member of the Film Ratings Board in 1999-2001. An acknowledged veteran filmmaker in the Philippine movie industry, Suzara has 60 outstanding films made in his 35 years of directing films since the late 70’s to the present, some were distributed and released in the international market. He has also directed numerous TV documentaries, programs and commercials for both the government and private sector. He is the proud recipient of numerous prestigious awards, one of which as the First Best Director Awardee of the Film Academy of the Philippines for “Mga Uod at Rosas”. TEDDY CO is a cinephile who has seen over 25,000 hours of films in cinemas. He is currently the Vice-Chair of the National Committee on Cinema of the NCCA and a board member of SOFIA (Society of Filipino Archivists for Film). As a film archivist, He has rescued Filipino film classics like Noli Me Tangere and The Moises Padilla Story (both directed by National Artist Gerardo de Leon), and the first Pinoy animated movie Tadhana (by Nonoy Marcelo). He has curated various programs of Philippine cinema, the latest being the year-long screenings for the Centennial of Gerardo de Leon held at the CCP and NCCA. He has been on selection committees of Cinema One Originals, Cinemalaya, Philippine International Silent Filmfest, and Quezon Citys QCinema. He is co-founder of Cinema Rehiyon, the annual festival of films from all over the Philippines, now entering its seventh year.
