Dont know how many of you know of him, but Larry Smith passed. Larry went to Jackson, two years behind me and was my friend from the days behind the counter at Mr Clarks. It was him, Rock, Rodrick, Reggie and myself, getting the students who packed the store, the Blow Pops, chips, soda, candy or whatever, while Mr Clark made the hero sandwiches. I remember Larry would sit on a crate, pluck his bass and tell us that one day he would be a star. We were just teenagers. Damn if he wasnt right. He also did a lot of songs, including this one for me. Most people dont even know he did it. When I wrote the words, I sent it to Larry. Next thing I know, Im in the studio with him and Rock. Even got to open a few shows for Kurtis Blow. All because of Larry Smith.
