Dont make me pull this country over … Today columnist Deborah L Born of Free Range Talk asks the questions we all want answered as soon as inhumanely possible: Will Jebber try for the Sweet Sixteen? What about those poor We survived Bush, youll survive Obama witty soldiers out here?! __________ The mad race to redefine the Republican Party as a party that lost its way continues with Jeb Bush doing a slow slide into a candidacy for President. First he said definitely not, then he said no, and now he’s saying…………….no, maybe. As the one person with slippery roots in the nation’s history he is the one person who is feared by the Democrats. The New York Times was at a barbeque this weekend to catch a whale. COLLEGE STATION, Tex. — With eyes increasingly on him, Jeb Bush signaled on Sunday the kind of campaign he would mount if he runs for president, one arguing against ideological purity tests while challenging party orthodoxy on issues like immigration and education. Even as he sharply criticized President Obama for his handling of foreign affairs and health care, Mr. Bush made clear that he would run against the style of politics that has characterized recent Republican nominating contests. He said he would decide by the end of the year, in part on whether he thinks he could avoid “the vortex of a mud fight” with a “hopeful” message.” The hell of it is, by teasing this way he gets a chance to see the way the wind blows without making a definite commitment. His fate would depend on two things, how many of the Rip Van Winkles have woken from their snooze and, how many of the Tea Party Mad Hatters have come down from their high perch in the clouds. He is the most feared man in the Party precisely because of his intelligent ability to dissemble and to keep up appearances of reasonableness while acting in concord with the gang of 1%-ers that want control of the country. Also, I do not believe he is a sociopath, just a bad apple from a tree full of bad apples. Not all evil can be blamed on sociopathic leanings. “We need to elect candidates that have a vision that is bigger and broader, and candidates that are organized around winning the election, not making a point,” Mr. Bush told an audience at the George Bush Presidential Library and Museum. “Campaigns ought to be about listening and learning and getting better. I do think we’ve lost our way.” He added, “I’m not being critical of my party, but campaigns themselves are reflective of this new America.” He speaks gobbledygook in a way that sounds sensible and makes a point without really making it, and criticizes without being critical, two things that have been lacking since the Tea Party took over in 2010. In short, he is, right now, the most feared of possible candidates from the Party of NO precisely because he isn’t crazy, can string words together to make sense, and is the polar opposite of W.
