Dont miss Martin Scorseses Raging Bull (1980) on the MGM channel at 10:00 tonight. I was fortunate to see this movie thanks to the loan of Josh Jenkins about a year back. Everyones familiar with Goodfellas and Casino, but a lot of people havent seen Raging Bull, owing mostly to the fact that its an earlier film and is more artistic in nature, but it shares a great deal of similarities with its successors (including Robert De Niro, in probably the best performance Ive ever seen from him), and is really an all-around better film than either Goodfellas or Casino (and Goodfellas, especially, will give any crime film a run for its money). My Scorsese repertoire is still missing some elements, but of the nine films of his that Ive seen, Raging Bull is probably the best.
