Don’t Touch Me! You know… I really don’t mind writing stories where I end up looking like a dork. I have had a great life, and I know it is not nearly over, hopefully, so I will be the source of more fun stories! Every guy, if he has any testosterone flowing through him looks forward to the day he whisks his loving bride away for a fantastic honeymoon! I am no different, but the day of my honeymoon has some incredible memories and a few that will surprise you. I was lucky enough to be joining a fantastic family, the Bill Ferguson family which meant I was gaining a new brother-in-law, Steve. On this typical hot August day in Arkansas Steve made his contribution to the wedding agenda by planning a wonderful bachelor activity which was water skiing on Greer’s Ferry Lake. What a great idea! I could not wait! I will try and hurry this along in an effort to be more efficient in my words. As I recalled we all gathered at a specified dock and waited for the ski boat to appear. Here were my closest friends, my brother and new brother-in-law! We all took turns and believe it or not, I got up on my water skis very quickly, and the fun had begun! There was one boat, and around 10 guys rotating, but for some reason they all seemed to defer to me having as much time on the water as my little heart desired. I took to water skiing like a duck does to water. I sincerely lost track of time and I have a pretty fair complexion. NO ONE ever confused me with a Bronze Hollywood G.Q. model. I was not Mr. Tan man, matter of fact quite the opposite. Suffice it to say, by the time we gathered the entire crew back to the motel to change and get ready we all looked like a bunch of RED LOBSTERS and we got redder and redder as the evening proceeded. I am the only male in history that told his lovely wife on his honeymoon night, “Don’t touch me!” Well, I managed to take one for the gipper and suffered through. Two days later, peeling skin was everywhere. Sharon wondered what she had gotten herself in to I am sure. On our way to St. Louis, and two St. Louis Cardinal Baseball games and Six Flags Over Mid-America! A fantastic honeymoon and a sign of things to come!
