Doris C. Baker was a teacher and principal of the U.S. Army - TopicsExpress

Doris C. Baker was a teacher and principal of the U.S. Army Elementary and Junior High School on Flint Kaserne in Bad Toelz, Germany from 1950 through 1979. Thirty-six years after her retirement as a school principal, history was revisited on November 5, 2014, for this 97 year-old resident of Atlantic Shores Retirement Community (Virginia Beach, VA). The U.S. Army John F. Kennedy Special Warfare Center and School, the U.S. Army’s Unconventional Warfare Center of Excellence, hosted a Regimental Induction Ceremony adding Doris to its roles as an Honorary Member of the Special Forces Regiment. Ms. Baker is one of only nine other distinguished individuals worldwide to ever receive this elite designation. Her story is representative of the experiences of countless DoD civilian employees who consistently and admirably performed in a variety of support roles to the active duty forces and their families. Their stories, many of which are lost with the passing of time, were heroic in many ways. Doris Baker was celebrated during a well-deserved moment of fame yesterday as a true champion for the Special Forces and for military children and their educational success. She is and will always be an indelible part of the DoDEA story and an honorary member on the Special Forces Regiment. Hooah, Principal Baker!
