Saturday 15 March - Bass-a-thon at Wells Cathedral School (Somerset) David Heyes and many of his students will play from 10.00-5.00 to raise lunds for the Ballanta Academy of Music in Sierra Leone. Saturday 8 March - Double Bass Concert in Teignmouth (Devon) David Heyes (double bass) & Jim Rintoul (double bass) will perform music by Bottesini, Teppo Hauta-aho, Tony Osborne, David Heyes, Rossini, Massenet, Bernard Salles, l\,4iloslav Gajdos & l\,4isek. Sunday 23 March - Bass! Bass! Bassl - Slough (Berkshire) A massed bass charity concert in memory of Jo Osborne and featuring music by Tony Osborne, Teppo Hauta-aho, Sim6n Garcia, Thomas Morley, Fucik, Victoria, Adolf Lotter, lan Pillow, Bruckner and Handel. Sarah Poole (Soprano) is the guest soloist. 5-10 April - Prague Conservatoire (Czech Republic) A series of masterclasses and concerts with Jiri Valenta (double bass), David Heyes (double bass) and Sarah Poole (soprano) performing music by Bottesini, cerny, Tony Osborne, Bernard Salles, John Alexander, Vincent Novello & Sim6n Garcia. 26-27 April - Spring Bass-Fest (Silk Mill, Frome, Somerset) A two-day non-residential is a refreshe r for bassists who attended jn 201 3 or a taste r for anyone thinking of attending Bass- Fest 2014. Tutored by David Heyes and Ben Groenevelt, the weekend will include technique sessions, massed bass orcheslra, bass guitar, jazz and the opportunity to study new and exciting repertoire, in a friendly, welcoming and encouraging environment. Sunday 4 May - Double Bass Workshop (Templecombe, Somerset) A one-day workshop will feature technique, massed basses, a masterclass and concerts. Tutored by Davld Heyes, Ben Groenevelt, Jiri Valenta (Czech Philharmonic) and David Daly (Bournemouth Symphony) it will include a concert lo commemorate the 95th anniversary of the birth of Frantisek Posla (1 91 9-1 991) - Principal Bass of the Czech Philharmonic for over 40 years. Sunday 22 June - Double Bass Workshop in Northampton Tutored by David Heyes and teaturing many works from Recital Muslcs vast catalogue. Sunday 6 July - The Magic of Mozart A charity concert featuring works by N.4ozart, Beethoven, Vanhal, Sperger and Dittersdorf performed by Sarah Poole (soprano), Sarah Doogan (soprano), David Heyes (double bass) & Howard Dyer (piano). 28 July - 8 August - Encore International Summer School (Wells, Somerset) A new and exciting Summer School for Piano, Guitar, Voice and Strings, directed by Olena Shvetsova. Located in the beautiful city of Wells, in the heart of picturesque Somerset, it will include individual lessons and chamber music with a full programme of events to keep everyone working. David Heyes is the double bass tutor. 15-17 August - Bass-Fest 2014 (Silk Mill, Frome, Somerset) Bass-Fest 2014 has an international faculty including David Heyes (UK), Dan Styffe (Norway), Sim6n Garcia (Spain), Ben Groenevelt {UK) and Eloise Riddell (UK) and will include a full programme ot workshops and concerts, including massed bass orchestra, technique, bass guitar, new commissions. John Alexander, Sadie Harrison and Sim6n Garcia are Featured Composers. 17-19 October - Temolecombe International Double Bass Festival (Somerset) A three day celebration of the double bass featuring David Heyes {double bass), l\,4ette Hanskov (double bass), David Daly (double bass), Ben croenevelt (double bass) and Sarah Poole (soprano) with illustrated talks by Corrado Canonici and Martin Penning. Sunday 14 December - A Somerset Christmas (Templecombe, Somerset) A fundraising Christmas celebration featuring The Somerset Singers and double bass ensemble, directed by Sarah Poole and David Heyes. The programme will include a number of traditional Somerset folk carols alongside seasonal music from around the world, ending with mince pies and mulled wine. A great end to the year!
