Down in the South Atlantic Ocean you may find a relik from colonial times, a British enclave on the Malvinas islands (a.k.a. Falklands) occupying Argentinian territory. The United Kingdom resorted to force in 1833, driving out people who lived on the Islands and replacing them with its soldiers and nationals. Since then, little has been developed, hosting a population of 3000 permanent residents, that must be compared with the 1300 military personnel deployed in the area, financed by the UK. In accordance with the United Nation´s recognition as an implanted nation, Argentina has dismissed the legitimacy of a referendum and called for direct negotiations with the UK. At 13000 km from England, you would hardly identify the islands in a mapa mundi! (other than as a small dot in the south right next to Argentina at 500km).
