Downing 6 - Corpus 13 MVP: Ravi The challenge began with a testing expedition to the foreign territories of corpus pitches. Many didn’t make it*. Some came via ridiculous routes (chud). But in the end we were still 10 strong and had great sideline support from the furiously tweeting Sam and conic Tejas. The match began with some strong offence from DCU, which put us in the lead. Highlights included Luke’s end zone power slide, John cutting like Edward Scissor-hands and ravenous Ravi’s hunger for catches. Rest assured, his appetite was satisfied. On defence, however, we suffered. Corpus were playing cheeky, with a turnover -> huck strategy. They threw a big’n and hoped for the best. Unfortunately, ‘the best’ seemed to be what they got most times. At half time we decided to switch forces, which turned things around in a literal sense but not as much as we had hoped in the other. The final score was 13-6 to Corpus (says Clackers) but the score doesn’t reflect the performance. Everyone played well and should be proud. In conclusion: Good work DCU, we may have lost but we played, a classier game. *Admittedly, this was because they didn’t intend to come in the first place. The route itself was safe and well-signposted thanks to the hardworking employees of Cambridge City Council.
