Dr. Angela Taft suggests that Domestic Violence or Intimate Partner Violence can be addressed through the Health Care System. I think that is a brilliant idea..... I know that in Fiji we already do that for child abuse. So, since our health care professionals in Fiji already know what to look for in children, they can do the same for women who are abused, especially those who suffer abused whilst pregnant....with a little more training and training on how to support these women. In Dr. Tafts view, this would actually decrease the incidence of violent crime and murder!! Perhaps!! And I wonder if checking for those indicators would have helped that poor mother and children in Vuda who were stabbed by the other woman in the relationship?? Anyway, something to think about and perhaps something to add to the Domestic Violence Decree or to the Crimes Decree or maybe something on its own similar to the Child Welfare Decree....what think you Mr. Aca Rayawa? And definitely something for you to think about Filimoni Wainiqolo Vosarogo!! And those in the DPPs Office and the Police should definitely think about this Ms Shide Navia.
