Dr. Cucuzza deals with the false Lordship “salvation” teaching - TopicsExpress

Dr. Cucuzza deals with the false Lordship “salvation” teaching of “bilateral contract salvation” (aka works for salvation) and with the LS/Calvinist false teaching of “perseverance of the saints” (aka works for salvation). Both of these false gospels are contrasted with the real Gospel of salvation by Grace alone through faith alone in Christ alone. Minutes 8:00 – 10:52: “Now, most people think ‘OK, well what I’ll do is I’ll be good.’ Well, being good is just like taking the pages of my Bible, if my – the pages of my Bible – represented good deeds, you could put a whole lifetime of good deeds on top of there, and it makes us look better. You know, we go to church, we get baptized, we give money, we try to keep the commandments (none of us do, but we try), we get sorry for our sins, we promise God we’re going to turn from our sin (or we’re at least going to be willing to turn from sin). In all these we’re making bargains with God. Well, listen. ‘I’ll enter into a contract with you, God.‘ God says: ‘No. There’s no contracts.’ The verdict has been passed down. You are guilty, and a death payment must be made for your sin – a death payment. It’s the only payment. Good works will not pay for sin. So, then, what are we going to do? Well, there’s nothing we can do. That is why God came to earth – the Lord Jesus Christ – God the Son. Letting this hand represent Him – sinless. And, when Jesus went to the cross, because He had no sin of is own, therefore He was qualified to die for us. He was the God man. The only one who has ever been. And, when Jesus went to the cross, He took our sin – our sin – upon Himself. And He died in our place as a substitute. Shedding His blood, leaving us nothing left to pay for. And He came back from the dead, and He says this: ‘If you will believe’ – if you’ll put your faith in Him – that He made that payment for you – He will give you, as a free gift, everlasting life. He did all the work. All He asks you to do is trust in Him that He did that for you. And, the moment you do, John 6 verse 47, Jesus put it this way: ‘Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me hath (that means possesses right now) everlasting life.’ When you believe, the payment He made is good on your account, and He gives you everlasting life. He says He’ll never lose you. He’ll never cast you out. Doesn’t that get you excited? That’s the most exciting truth in all the world. And that’s why Paul – Paul knew that- and that’s why He said: ‘We are confident. We’ve got a home. We’re going to be with the Lord. We’re going to be absent from the body one day – present with the Lord.’ We know this to be true. Not ‘we hope, we guess – that’s what we’re hoping. We hope we persevere until the end.’ If you have to persevere until the end folks, you’re trusting in yourself. You’re not trusting in Christ. Jesus did it all. You just simply rest in Him by faith – that He made that payment for you. The work has been done through Christ. Now, you can reject the payment He made and say: ‘OK, I have to do this and this and this and this.’ But, now you’re taking your salvation upon yourself. And, you’re not a savior. I hate to hurt your feelings. But, you’re not a savior. Jesus is the only one, according to the Bible.”
