Dr. David McNeill is a journalist and academic who writes for The Economist, London Independent, Irish Times, and Japan Times newspapers. He is co-author of an acclaimed book on survivors of Japan’s 2011 disaster, Strong in the Rain. He has reported from across Asia, including North and South Korea, Vietnam, Thailand, and Indonesia and his work has appeared in The New York Times, Newsweek, Chicago Tribune, and on the BBC and CBC. He is a coordinator of the e-journal Japan Focus, and a long-standing member of the Foreign Correspondents’ Club of Japan. He also teaches media and politics at Sophia University.
