Dr. Dominik Antonowicz is going to run the seminar “State, market and society” in our Program “Invitation to Philosophy and Sociology” (erasmushum.umk.pl/sample-program-of-studies/). Dominik Antonowicz is a doctor of sociology and the assistant professor in the Institute of Sociology, Nicolaus Copernicus University in Torun. He is a former Chevening scholar (Birmingham University), the Foundation for Polish Science scholar (Center of Higher Education Policy Studies, Twente University), a sociologist, public manager, higher education researcher and policy analyst. His research interests include institutional and organizational theory which is used to explore public policy and higher education. In the current work, he is investigating the clash between the world society (Meyer et al.) that carries certain institutional arrangements against the well-established academic tradition in transforming higher education systems. His publications range from the unique analysis of football fandom, although his main focus is on public policy in transforming countries, addressing the issue of accountability, trust and effectiveness of modern nation-state. He is passionate about sport, not only as a supporter, but also as an athlete.
