Dr. Ian Hypolite, the coach of 400m hurdles runner Jehue Gordon, says that Beijing 2008 Olympics were career-changing for Gordon. Yes, the Olympics he didnt even take part in. Jehue won a competition sponsored by local telecommunication giant. His prize was a trip to Beijing; he was a spectator there at 16 years old. And there was a huge transformation in the off-season after that trip, he finally dedicated himself fully to athletics. I guess, he was influenced by Usain Bolt. In July 2009 we went to the CAC Championships in Cuba, and he essentially led Felix Sanchez and Javier Culson up until 300m in the race. And I was like: what is happening here? smiles Hypolite. In August 2009 17-year-old Jehue was fourth at the Berlin 2009 World Championships, and four years later he won the gold medal in Moscow.
