Dr. Jane Goodall, DBE, Founder, the Jane Goodall Institute & UN Messenger of Peace janegoodall.org/ Dr Jane Goodall was inspired, on the International Day of Peace September 21 2012, to honor the Survivor Tree at the National September 11 Memorial & Museum in New York City. About the Survivor Tree: The callery pear tree became known as the Survivor Tree after sustaining extensive damage, but living through the September 11, 2001, terror attacks at the World Trade Center. In October 2001, the tree with lifeless limbs, snapped roots and blackened trunk was discovered and freed from the piles of smoldering rubble in the plaza of the World Trade Center. The tree was originally planted in the 1970s in the vicinity of buildings four and five in the WTC complex near Church Street. https://911memorial.org/ With a lot of love and skill, Riche Cabo and the dedicated people at the NYC Parks Department nurtured the The Survivor Tree back to health and now stands a beautiful symbol of hope for the world. Supporters of the International Day of Peace gathered around the Survivor Tree for a Minute of Silence Moment of Peace. Music was written and composed by Jo Anne Spies soundingtheriver.blogspot/ https://youtube/watch?v=C-Vt9usD7Pg
