Dr. Pickett’s book is out! Dr. Susan Pickett, Music Dept. Chair and Professor of Music Theory and Violin, has recently published Marion and Emilie Frances Bauer: From the Wild West to American Musical Modernism, a biography of sisters Marion and Emilie Frances Bauer who grew up in Walla Walla in the late 19th century. Each would become an American composer, writer, and music critic who would make an enduring contribution to American music. This book, which includes the first comprehensive accounting of music composed by each of the Bauers, is available through lulu.
