Dr Riek arrives in Nairobi for direct talks with Kenyatta and the government of Kenya Nairobi - The leader of the rebel movement in South Sudan, former Vice President Dr Riek Machar has arrived in Nairobi today as part of his diplomatic tour of IGAD countries. Dr Riek will meet with the president of Kenya H.E. Uhuru Kenyatta and some member of his cabinet to brief the Kenyan president on the ongoing talks between his movement and the government of South Sudan lead by Salva Kiir Mayardiit. Machars East Africa tour is the first since the crisis swept over the country of South Sudan 5 months ago. According to the rebel sources, the former Vice President will also visit Sudan and Djibouti this week before returning back to Ethiopia. The former VP is accompanied by high delegate members of the SPLM in Opposition, security services and delegates of IGAD security apparatuses. Dr Rieks visit to Kenya was however uneasy one as the embassy of South Sudan accused the government of Kenya of making arrangements behind the scene without consulting the embassy being the direct link between South Sudan and Kenya. we have learned on Monday that Dr Riek Machar will be coming here to talk to Kenyan government. Although we dont know what hes coming here to discuss with our allies in Kenya, we thought that the authorities could have notified us about the event and ask our permission since we are the only credible link between the government of H.E. Uhuru Kenyatta and the republic of South Sudan. We will need more explanation from the presidency of Kenya of how this arrangements were made without our consultations. - a source close to the South Sudan embassy told the Upper Nile Times. The embassy of South Sudan seems to have be echoing a similar anxiety as the government in Juba seemed to have consumed of why a rebel leader should be allowed to tour states they see as allies in the conflict. Fighting in South Sudan has since cooled off after the signing of cessation of hostilities by the two warring parties on May the 9th. Although there are still a pocket of incident involving the two fighting factions, the war is not in full scale as it was 1 month ago.
