Dr. Rowley just got embarrassed in Parliament for giving wrong information. He did not know that in December 1998 oil was $9 a barrel. He claimed that it only occurred under George Chambers in 1986 and poked fun at the PM saying he didnt know she was part of the George Chambers Government. How embarrassing. Under the heading Whats the Difference? I quote, In December 1998, the price of imported oil plunged to around $9 a barrel. In real terms, this was its lowest level since late 1973. All else equal, this positive price shock should have been good for the economy.
