Dr. Stanley shared the following list of qualities that can help us determine whether or not we are growing spiritually. How many can you say are characteristic of your life? 1. Increasing awareness of our sins and weaknesses. 2. Responding to sin with immediate repentance. 3. Rejoicing even in intense spiritual battles. 4. Seeing trials and temptations as opportunities for growth. 5. Viewing service to Christ as a high honor, not a burden. 6. Counting everything as coming from the Lord. 7. Sensing growth in our faith. 8. Spending more time worshipping and praising the Lord. 9. Increasing desire to obey and diminishing attraction to sin. 10. Eagerness to share what Christ is doing in our lives. 11. Increasing awareness of God’s presence. 12. Jealously guarding our private devotions and prayer time. 13. Desire to spend time alone with the Lord. 14. Increasing desire to give. 15. Growing hunger for the Lord. 16. Ability to feel God’s love. Spiritual growth takes discipline. If we are to experience these blessings, then we must make Scripture reading, prayer, and time alone with God priorities. Hold onto this list and make it a goal to evaluate your life from time to time to make sure you’re experiencing every bit of the abundant life available to you in Chirst.
