Committee Members Colorado MMA Press Association membership open to all writers, photographers, bloggers, radio personalities residing within the state of Colorado. During the nomination process members of the association may be asked to recuse themselves [from an individual category] if a potential conflict of interest is determined. -Applications to be a member of the Colorado MMA Press Association are accepted between November 1, 2012 and July 1, 2013. For more information, please email ColoradoMMAawards@yahoo with the subject line; COLORADO MMA PRESS ASSOCIATION. Membership is free. -At Large Committee Membership: Open to all promoters, coaches, sponsors and members of the press association. -FINAL VOTE: is determined by a combination of fans voting and committee voting, via a weighted system. The fan vote counts for 40% of the total and the committee, 60%. -A full list of the Colorado MMA Press associate and At Large Committee members will be maintained via all online outlets available (Facebook, Twitter, website [once up]) and visible to the fight community. The following categories fall within the category of PRESS ASSOCIATION NOMINATION AND FINAL VOTE ; Amateur (male and female) Fighter of the Year -Nominees must live within Colorado. -Must have had at least three amateur fights within Colorado during the review period. -Must have at least a .500% record during the review period. -Nomination by Colorado MMA Press Association -Top 6 nominees reach FINAL VOTE. -Winner determined by FINAL VOTE. Breakthrough Fighter of the year -Must live within the state of Colorado -Must have had a minimum of three professional fights during the review period. -Must have at least a .500% record during the review period -Nomination by Colorado MMA Press Association -Top 6 nominees reach FINAL VOTE. -Winner determined by FINAL VOTE. Chin of the Year -Must live within the state of Colorado -Must have had a minimum of two fights during the review period. -Nomination by Colorado MMA Press Association -Top 6 nominees reach FINAL VOTE. -Winner determined by FINAL VOTE. Coach of the Year -Must coach within the state of Colorado -Nomination by Colorado MMA Press Association -Top 6 nominees reach FINAL VOTE. -Winner determined by FINAL VOTE. Comeback Fighter of the Year -Must live within the state of Colorado -‘Comeback ‘ can be defined by having comeback in a fight, in a fight career, or in life at large. -Nomination by Colorado MMA Press Association -Top 6 nominees reach FINAL VOTE. -Winner determined by FINAL VOTE. Fight Card of the Year -Must have occurred within the review period -Nomination by Colorado MMA Press Association -Top 6 nominees reach FINAL VOTE. -Winner determined by FINAL VOTE. Fight of the Year -Must have occurred within Colorado during the review period. -Nomination by Colorado MMA Press Association -Top 6 nominees reach FINAL VOTE. -Winner determined by FINAL VOTE. Knockout of the Year -Nominees must live within Colorado -Only one nomination per person. -Fight must have occurred within Colorado during the review period. -Nomination by Colorado MMA Press Association -Top 6 nominees reach FINAL VOTE. -Winner determined by FINAL VOTE. National Fighter of the Year -Nominees must live within Colorado. -Must have had at least one fight outside of Colorado during the review period. *Unless a national promotion (such as the UFC) has an event within Colorado. -Nomination by Colorado MMA Press Association -Top 6 nominees reach FINAL VOTE. -Winner determined by FINAL VOTE. Official of the Year -Nominees must live within Colorado -Nomination by Colorado MMA Press Association -Top 6 nominees reach FINAL VOTE. -Winner determined by FINAL VOTE. The Patty ‘Put Em Up’ Montez Memorial Colorado MMA Promoter’s Cup (promotion of the year) -Physical business must be located within Colorado -Nomination by Colorado MMA Press Association -Top 6 nominees reach FINAL VOTE. -Winner determined by FINAL VOTE. Professional (male and female) Fighter of the Year -Nominees must live within Colorado. -Must have had at least two fights within Colorado during the review period. -Must have at least a .500% record during the review period. -Nomination by Colorado MMA Press Association -Top 6 nominees reach FINAL VOTE. -Winner determined by FINAL VOTE. Ring Girl of the Year -Must live within the state of Colorado -Open nominating by fans -Must have been a ring girl (also known as ring-card girl) at least one time during the review period. A ring girl is defined as someone who physically enters the ring and walks around it holding a round card. -Nomination by Colorado MMA Press Association -Top 6 nominees reach FINAL VOTE. -Winner determined by FINAL VOTE. Sponsor of the Year -Physical business must be located within Colorado -Nomination by Colorado MMA Press Association -Top 6 nominees reach FINAL VOTE. -Winner determined by FINAL VOTE. Submission of the Year -Nominees must live within Colorado -Only one nomination per person. -Fight must have occurred within Colorado during the review period. -Nomination by Colorado MMA Press Association -Top 6 nominees reach FINAL VOTE. -Winner determined by FINAL VOTE. The following categories are nominated/determined with unique systems that are outlined; Angels over Rainbows Award -Winner(s) Chosen by The Never Alone Foundation The Cestus -PLEASE SEE ‘NEW CATEGORIES’ Below Fans’ Choice Fighter of the Year -Nominee must live within Colorado. -Nominee must have had at least two fights during the review period. -Open nominating by fans. -Top nominee is the winner. Fans’ Choice Gym of the Year -Gym must have a physical location within the state of Colorado -Fans’ only will vote by write-in candidate online. Lifetime Achievement Award -Nominee must live within Colorado. -Winner determined by Press Association secret ballot. Media Member of the Year -Nominee must live within Colorado. -Each properly registered and confirmed organization within the MEDIA OUTLET of the year category, will be allowed to nominate one person to the MEDIA MEMBER category. -This will be one of only three categories that may have more than six nominees. -Winner determined by FINAL VOTE. Media Outlet of the Year -Must be located within Colorado (either physical broadcast location or majority of outlet members located within Colorado) -Media Outlets must register as part of the Colorado MMA Press Association Registration will mean an automatic inclusion (pending review and confirmation that outlet is a real outlet) on the ballot as outlet of the year. -This will be one of only three categories that may have more than six nominees. -Winner determined by FINAL VOTE. The Michael Ray Maynes Memorial Colorado MMA Team Cup -Teams must have registered by January 1, 2013 -Winner is determined by points accumulation Person of the Year Award -Nominee must live within Colorado. -Winner determined by Press Association secret ballot. Photographer of the Year -Nominee must live, have physical business, within Colorado. -Open nominating by fans -Photographers must register as part of the Colorado MMA Press Association Registration will mean an automatic inclusion (pending review and confirmation that outlet is a real outlet) on the ballot as photographer of the year. -This will be one of only three categories that may have more than six nominees. -Winner determined by FINAL VOTE. FACEBOOK POLLS Fan Photograph of the Year -Anyone may enter so long as the subject matter is a Colorado Fighter(s) and they (photographer) are not professional. -Voting will be done online, popular vote Professional Photograph of the Year -Limited entry to only photographers nominated within the PHOTOGRAPHER OF THE YEAR category. -Subject matter must be a Colorado fighter(s). -Voting will be done online, popular vote. Adding new categories -A maximum of 1 new category will be added per year. -The 2013 New Category is THE CESTUS The Cestus: This award is intended to honor the most successful fighter in Colorado from November 3, 2012 to November 4, 2013.. -A fighter must physically reside in Colorado. -Points are +3 for a win by finish, +1 for a win by decision, -2 for a loss. -In the event of a tie, the tie breaker will be determined by length of fights. Whichever fighter in the tie situation, has had the shortest amount of time to win, will win the award.
