Drama drama....the balance of the WORLD, hangs on this episode...... This is a reason I quit a lot of TV shows over the last 5 or 6 years. Not only does every episode take this on but EVERY SCENE. When it reaches the 50% point its usually enough to lose my attention. I dont get sucked in I get disgusted. I find it disturbing and one more form of brain damage like the movies people watch while theyre really stoned. All sorts of fantastical effects, creatures, a hero thats a mortal man but somehow AMAZING. Good things happen and the person watching gets this delusion of yeah I could do that if this were my life!! The more you empathize with fiction, the more it distorts your own self view and sense of ability and accomplishment. On a deep, bizarre psychological level, your brain connects to this fiction as your real life experiences. This is what EMPATHY and IMAGINATION fusing does. People want to argue with me to the contrary and yet, Ive spent enough time around them to see exactly what Im talking about. Living through characters in tv shows and movies is the reason the middle class are finding themselves turning into serfs.
