Drapery & Design PROFESSIONAL Magazine contest announcement.... What does it take to become THE Drapery & Design PROFESSIONAL of the year? We define a Drapery & Design PROFESSIONAL as a respected member of the industry who produces a high quality custom window treatment. They also contribute to the community by mentoring or assisting others either through the internet, or in person. The contest is open to any person that designs and fabricates window treatments and qualifies under the basic criteria list below. 5 levels of criteria – each level will be judged by a different panel of judges. Judges will be chosen throughout the industry and will include workrooms, designers, vendors and industry leaders. Basic Criteria – Professional member of the D&D PRO network Minimum 5 years in the industry Company website and/or blog Actively participates in window treatment related activities such as social media groups, show houses, charities, showcase-galleries, mentoring, and group networking, etc. Professional headshot Professional business cards/marketing materials Level 2. Tell us your story When did you get started? How did you get started? Why did you choose this profession? Where do you see yourself in 5 years? Where do you see the industry heading in the future? Level 3. Send us photos of your work Please send us a mixture of your best work and tell us why you chose each photo. You may send up to 20 photos. A link will be provided for uploading. Level 4. Send us photos of your workroom. The size of your space doesn’t matter, it’s how you use the area and how well it works for you. Please submit a floorplan and up to 20 photos of your space. Level 5. Design a window treatment and submit a sketch and workorder. You can hand sketch or use digital software. We will leave the concept up to you. Information 1. You must meet basic criteria prior to application 2. Application must be submitted by Sep 1, 2014. There is no cost to enter this contest. 3. All photos and designs must be submitted with application. 4. Judging begins on September 15th and the winner will be notified on or before October 15th. 5. Winner will be featured in Issue 6 of the Drapery & Design PROFESSIONAL magazine. The winner will also receive an engraved silver cup and a 2015 professional membership to the magazine and network. They will also be given an opportunity to present a webinar to the 2015 network members on the subject of their choice. Application packet will be available on March 15th.
