Dress Code and what is says about you and the company you represent! Different companies have their own dress codes and expect their employees to abide by them. In order to portray a uniform image and brand of the companies they work for, employees have no choice but to follow the dress code imposed to them by their employer. Companies that focus on the creative side of things are more likely to allow their employees to dress in whatever way they feel comfortable, some go as far as allowing jeans and T-shirts on a Monday! Law firms and Banks however, expect their employees to be smart and formal due to the nature of their jobs. Most clients would like to see their Bankers and Lawyers looking professional hence making them feel safer and secure with the services offered. In an article titled Professional Dress Code Tips for Burleson Consulting, Donald K. Burleson points out that financial employees and executives, along with many other people in business, are expected to dress professionally because of the expectation the public has in the professional nature of their jobs. Appropriate dressing plays a big part in portraying your professionalism and that of the company. Most people build their first impression of you and of the organization you work for based on your attire and general appearance. It is important therefore to maintain a good image of the company you represent by taking into consideration your dress code.
