Dreyfoos Science faculty members Stephen Anand and Lois Wise recently completed an edX/ MIT class online (7.00x Introduction to Biology) given by Dr. Lander, the president and founding director of the Broad Institute and the lead researcher on the Human Genomic Project. This was the first time the class was given. It was primarily designed as professional development for high school biology teachers, but had a worldwide audience of over 30,000 students from every background imaginable. Mr. Anand and Ms. Wise were both very enthusiastic students and were two of the approximately 3000 students that passed the class. As high school biology teachers, edX /MIT was interested in their feedback. They asked them to tape a testimonial for the class while they were in Boston at an MIT summer program. Both teachers will also be Teaching Assistants for the fall semester for this class.
