Driver The Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC) is a non-governmental, humanitarian organization with 60 years of experience in helping to create a safer and more dignified life for refugees and internally displaced people. NRC advocates for the rights of displaced populations and offers assistance within the shelter, education, emergency food security, legal assistance, and water,sanitation and hygiene sectors. The Norwegian Refugee Council has approximately 4000 committed and competent employees involved in projects across four continents. In addition, NRC runs one of the worlds largest standby rosters -NORCAP, with 650 professionals, ready to be deployed on 72 hours notice when a crisis occurs The Driver is responsible for assisting the Logistics/Security Senior Officer with transportation of NRC personnel and deliveries throughout Gaza. The driver will also be assisting the Logistics/Security Senior Officer with daily tasks Job description Ensuring the safe and secure transportation of NRC personnel and deliveries throughout Gaza. Following daily driving schedules and, where necessary, assisting with organising schedules to ensure maximum efficiency. Driving staff and deliverables to and from destinations including project sites as required. Checking the route, road, location, destination and security situation before each journey and reporting back to the Logistics/Security Senior Officer about movements. Updating vehicle log book with information about movements and fuel consumption. Checking that all tools (jacks etc.) and items (spare tyres and first aid kit etc.) are always kept in the vehicle. Carrying out daily vehicle checks, water, oil, tyres, etc. Keeping vehicles clean and tidy. Being fully aware and always acting in compliance of all NRC Gaza security and safety policies and guidelines, including any updated information. Keeping up to date with and communicating to Logistics/Security Senior Officer any security issues affecting staff movements. Following NRC policy, as well as following official orders and procedures, at checkpoints and roadblocks and other dealings with the authorities, to the extent that they do not compromise the safety and security of NRC personnel or NRCs beneficiaries. Observing safe driving practices and respecting speed limits as required within the law of Gaza. Carrying out loading/unloading duties as required. Assisting with any logistics duty as record keeping, filing, photo-copying, scanning, and collecting invoices/documents when requested. Fulfil any other related tasks as instructed by Logistics/Security Senior Officer and, as relevant, other NRC personnel. Qualifications Valid Drivers license and excellent driving skills. Minimum 2 years of experience as a driver. Experienced driving in Gaza. Preferable to have experience working in a logistics office. Service minded and a pleasant personality. Be able to work outside normal working hours. Excellent command of English and Arabic written and orally. Experience of working with non-governmental organizations is an advantage. Computer skills (Word, Excel).
