Americans are about to see a full demonstration of the power of driverless cars this summer. M City, a 32-acre testing ground for driverless cars is being built on the North Campus of the University of Michigan. It will resemble an average city, with a bunch of roads, traffic signals, and even pedestrians. The only difference will be that there wont be any humans behind the wheel. The vehicles – which will be “able to talk to each other – can prevent car crashes, streamline traffic flow, and even re-direct cars to take congestion-free routes. These improvements could save tens of thousands of lives, and billions of gallons of fuel to reduce carbon emissions. And, of course, theyll be able to make automated deliveries.
