Drivers Drag London Mining, Bollore To State House A senior member of the Sierra Leone Motor Drivers & General Workers Union, Mr. Alpha Bah has confirmed, in an exclusive interview with the Global Times that they have made a formal complaint against London Mining and Bollore African Logistics for conspiring to defraud local transporters in Lunsar. According to Mr. Bah, when they met with the State House Chief of Staff, Dr. Richard Konte, they expressed their disgust over the decision by London Mining to award a haulage contract to a foreign company, Bollore eventhough there are several competent indigenous Sierra Leonean transporters in the country. Mr. Bah said that they have been assured by Dr. Richard Konte that, their complaint will be formally presented to His Excellency President Ernest Bai Koroma in due course. Dr. Richard Konte assured the concerned trade union leaders that, the Local Content Policy will soon become a legislative instrument, which will force foreign investors to do business with indigenous Sierra Leonean companies. An earlier meeting held in the office of the Minister of Trade and Industry at Youyi Building was allegedly disrupted by the Chairman of the National Commission for Privatisation, Abu Bangura who made himself a spokesman for Bollore. Mr. Bangura was accused of having being bought by Bollore, an accusation that he has strenuously and consistently denied. Meanwhile, the Trade and Industry Minister, Alhaji Usman Boie Kamara has promised to send a fact finding team to Lunsar this week in order to be able to address the concerns raised by local transporters and vehicle owners. Investigations continue.
