Drivers to Boycott Bardnersville Road 3 September 2013 , By Edwin G. Genoway, Jr, Source: New Dawn Commercial drivers plying the Bardnerville Estate route have threatened to stop going in the estate due to deplorable condition of the road. Several taxi drivers plying the estate route complained their vehicles usually develop mechanical problems due to the road condition there. One taxi driver, Sam Gibson, who is said to be leading a planned protest, told this paper that their cars are not safe. "The road from the estate junction to the main estate is very bad, and we drivers cannot increase the transportation fair because of the bad road, so the best thing we can do is to do what we decided in our meetings to stop running traffic there," he noted. The drivers said the Barnesville Estate route could now be compared to an interior highway due to the deplorable road condition. Residents of the Barnesville Estate Community have also alarmed over the terrible road condition leading to the Estate. They said the road condition is causing serious problem for the movement of vehicles and themselves, noting that the condition of the road has become an embarrassment for them. A resident of the Barnesville Bend and Stop community Varney K. Mccoy, described the road as frustrating. Mccoy said Barnesville Estate has become an outcast to the government; "Why will government not pay attention to our road; is it because elections are over; government needs to see reasons to pave our road; this estate is very important in Gardnerville like other community," he emphasized. The residents however appealed to drivers to abandon the planned boycott, saying "We are appealing to all of the drivers to not stop running in our estate; let government come to our aid," Ms Esther Glain, a resident pleaded.
