All you have to do is point it where you want to go. And the safety systems are better than ever. Compare that to the car your father drove 30 years ago. Back then, the transmission was manual. there was a huge play in the steering wheel and stick shift. Driving takes skill. And you have to learn how to trouble shoot your car before you apply for a license.
