Driving to the railway station this morning to catch a train to deepest englandshire and I find myself tuned into BBC Radio Scotland and Louise Whites phone in show. Having just recovered from the banality of the TV coverage of people assaulting each other in shops all over the country on Black Friday. A phenomenon introduced to us by that intelligent forward thinking nation the USA. I am now listening to a radio station dedicating itself to covering a Storm Bomb ( another gift from the USA ) Hows it going there in Mussleburgh Willie? Did you get the the thunder and lightening in Auchterarder Brian? Fred ( McAuley) did you manage to get the dogs out this morning for a walk? All we have is the media distracting the public and wasting tax payers money while the real issues are swept under the carpet. Instead of talking to Willie who was eating his bacon roll and drinking hot chocolate while looking at the waves crashing the harbour walls in Mussleburgh from his cosy flat, why didnt they go and talk to a homeless person on the streets of Glasgow and see how the weather is affecting them. Get down to a foodbank and see what impact walking a couple of miles in a 60 mile an hour gale and driving rain will have on someone needing to feed their family tonight. Check out a family in the west of Scotland that cannot heat their flat while the Storm Bomb comes. As a national broadcaster my view of the BBC was turned on its head during the referendum campaign. It wasnt the world renowned impartial journalistic giant it paints itself to be. It is in fact a mediocre organisation that for years has been badly managed, was complicit in the criminal behaviour of its staff, controlled by central government, and like Westminster is now an outdated, corrupt, and self serving institution that feeds its public with inane, mendacious propaganda to keep the mob distracted while it dismantles the society they (the elite) abhor and feather their own nests in the process. ( Step off soap box) Merry Christmas!
