Dropbox Denies Hack As no doubt most of you have heard by now, some 7 million Dropbox log in credentials have alleged to have been stolen, with an anonymous user releasing about 400 of them to Pastebin and promising more soon. The online storage company, however, claims those credentials were not stolen as the result of #hacking - at least not from #hackers targeting #dropbox directly. The usernames and passwords referenced in these articles were stolen from unrelated services, not Dropbox,” says Anton Mityagin of Dropbox security in the blog post. “Attackers then used these stolen credentials to try to log in to sites across the internet, including Dropbox.” The post also urges users not to use the same passwords for different services, and to enable two-step verification. Dropbox also told Ars Technica that it was previously aware of related attacks, and that every posted #password is now expired, and further that the vast majority had expired previous to being posted. #news #security #cybersecurity Web Host Industry Review #blacklotus Black Lotus
