Dropped off the last of my thank you cards yesterday afternoon. Need to buy more as I realised I didnt have enough! I dont know about the other candidates, but this experience has personally taught me that the support of family and friends was essential in my campaign. I wasnt endorsed by anyone. No one came up to me and said Hey! Can we add you to our group of endorsees? I wrote out a campaign plan like a curriculum unit. I set daily and weekly targets and reviewed my progress. I set aside some money for photocopying and calendars. No twitter. No latest mobile phone. I invested in 2 pairs of shoes for doorknocking, a bottle of water, an umbrella and an exercise book to note stuff in. I borrowed my sons camera. And off I went! Simplicity in style and manner can sometimes rise above the more complicated techniques used in a technological savvy world.
