Dsi Discussion Page and DSI face book,,From what i can see, the DSI themselves are showing practically no interest in their own Web page,,either to put much effort into replying to posts or using it themselves to provide information etc,,relying mainly, as most bodies do, on the use of Ballroom dance matters WEb,which has taken over the role and doing an excellent job all round .. Face book itself, the home page to be exact,,is really used by the young competitors and parents, with dance studies advertising their sudies and providing information and results of successes etc, while the IDC may also add their side to it.and even the DSI with the odd remark... It also contains very interesting and amusing things at times,,along with the young dancers,,complimenting each other or the usual slagging we all do,,granted a lot of tripe also.. There is one thing i have noticed for some time now,,the young dancers as i say compliment each other and some seniors etc may also congratulate them at times,,but i have yet to see any of these young dancers show any interest, or compliment our seniors when they have done really well,,either here or abroad,,so easy to be lost in their own glory,,and fail to recognise that they too will grow older,,and all the glory will slip from them,,soon to be forgotten like so many more,,particularly as a Hall Of Fame was never formed, as i once suggested..perhaps with all the buzz and action going on in dancing recently and the new bodies and dance studios opening up,,someone might think about it.. We have seen many glowing reports of THe All Ireland,,The Irish OPen and many other events, with a great athmosphere at each,,I myself have contributed to this,,however,as those who were blessed to be around at the the Great All Irelands once held in Butlins ,will really remember what an athmosphere meant.. I am of course talking of when there were huge enteries in many of the events,,as a matter of fact,,if you were to put all the Amateurs,Juniors,,and Seniors all together that we have now,,they would only make up the amount of one of the top events in Butlins..bearing in mind that the Amateurs danced latin, as well as Ballroom in the All Ireland..and there were no children involved in those days,,and loads of social dancing on a huge floor..The comps nowadays, comprise mainly of younger children, while |Sudent/Teacher comps and the recent unattached (forget name off hand) and Senior events are what keeps it alive,,it will be a long time yet before we have sufficient numbers to have heats for the top events,, see TDsi Discussion Page and DSI face book,,From what i can see, the DSI themselves are showing practically no interest in their own Web page,,either to put much effort into replying to posts or using it themselves to provide information etc,,relying mainly, as most bodies do, on the use of Ballroom dance matters WEb,which has taken over the role and doing an excellent job all round ..
