Dubai MONUMENTS Jumeriah Mosque The Jumeriah Mosque, a beautiful Dubai landmark is admired for its inspiring architecture as well as its serene ambience. We suggest you take a guided tour and then head to the Lime Tree Cafe, located close by. One-hour tours are available on Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sundays at 10am. This tower is currently the grand attraction of the Downtown Dubai district, which is also home to Dubai Mall and Dubai Fountain. This is a fantastic place to learn about the regions traditional style of living, so start by taking a walk around the barasti, (a traditional house made from mud and palm leaves) or gaze at the potters and weavers practicing their crafts. Re-live the charm by visiting the adjoining diving village that delves into the history of Dubai’s pearling industry. This destination really comes to life in the evenings—particularly during the Dubai Shopping Festival when you can see everything from cooking to craft demonstrations. Al Shindagha Area, next to Sheikh Saeed’s House, Dubai (+971 4 3937151) MUSEUMS Dubai Museum Considered to be one of the oldest architectural masterpieces in Dubai, the historic Al Fahidi Fort, which was originally erected around 1787, is home to the Dubai Museum. This fascinating museum’s collection gives extensive insight into this regions cultural history. Must-see: the life-size dioramas of Dubai in the pre-oil era. The artefacts from African and Asian countries are also well worth the viewing. Settle into your seat at this elegant 432-seater theatre and be entertained by premier stage productions that range from the ballet to Broadway. Recently re-located to a larger space near the centre of Dubai, there is always a new international artist or a great classic waiting to be discovered. In addition to monthly exhibitions, they organise and hold alternative non-profit programs to increase interest in cultural and artistic awareness. Join the festivities; this is Dubai’s only fully-stocked artist’s studio where you can participate in Do It Yourself art sessions. The slopes differ from each other in terms of difficulty, height and steepness—with some slopes allocated for just beginners. Ski Dubai also offers snowboarding.
