Dublin City Council Rectifies Polling Card Error Dublin City Council regrets to advise that an error occurred with the printing of polling cards for the upcoming Seanad and Court of Appeal Referendums on 4th October 2013, affecting a number of Voters in the Dublin City Council area. The City Council has taken immediate action to rectify this error and we are currently in the process of notifying all affected Voters by post. The error affects the following categories of Voter : • New Voters who have not received Polling Cards; • Voters who recently changed address, whose Polling Cards have been sent to their former addresses and • Voters to whom Polling Cards were sent directing them to the wrong Polling Station. Finally, a small number of Polling Cards issued in error to Voters who are now deceased. Dublin City Council apologises unreservedly to the families and relatives concerned for any distress this may have caused. Letters have been sent this evening to Voters whose original Polling Cards directed them to the wrong Polling Station, advising them of the correct location at which to cast their vote. Letters are also issuing to Voters who are new to the Electoral Register and/or who have changed address recently, advising them of their electoral number and the correct Polling Station to which they must go if they wish to cast their vote. A voter is not required to present a Polling Card at the Polling Station in order to vote. However, we want to remind Voters that they should bring a valid form of identification to the Polling Station as usual. A Passport, Driver’s Licence, Garda ID Card, Student ID or Social Welfare Card will suffice in this regard. If anyone requires additional information/assistance they should contact Dublin City Council Franchise Section at Tel: 222 5010 or email [email protected]
