Due the continuous rainfall, the Yamaguchi Prefecture Government may release water from the Sugano Dam, located at the upper stream of the Nishiki River, in advance of heavy rain for the purpose of flood control. MCAS Residents living off base or visiting areas near the Nishiki River are advised not to approach the river this weekend and 72 hours after the storm system has passed as the levels may rise quickly, even while the skies are clear and sunny. The prefecture government will sound sirens and notify community members off base via patrol cars with PA systems when this occurs.
