Due to people not knowing what FRIENDS OF CORFU actually do.I think it would be better to say what we have done.Our first project was brought to our notice by Andrea a man living in a chicken shed .We bought a old caravan and Andrea and Garry refurbished it new curtains bedding the group found food and clothes for the gentleman .Due to our efforts a Greek family have given him Electric and water.We have had calls for help for families in need one man had his wife on the mainland having treatment for cancer and his son had brain tumour and had a 11year old at home so we helped with food and paying some of his bills.He insisted it was a loan but we dont loan we give we told him if he gets the money to help someone else.We dont want anybody to be under pressure.We also helped a family having problems coming up to Christmas we got involved supplying food and paying for some services.Then it got a lot worse the young father was killed in a motor accident.So we appealed for some presents for the boy we were overwhelmed presents from Athens Corfu UK Australia Canada. We also face our biggest challenge ZOE we have tried everything she rejects help happy living on the stree..But we still give her food and clothes and she knows we care .Zoe 1 FRIENDS nil ?But we will keep trying.There are lots of cases of helping families. Our latest project we visit and help people in hospital if they need us sitting for short periods or longer but this costs.We take in sheets and toiletries.On top of this we loan out crutches Zimmers and have a wheelchair. We collect clothes for the needy we send childrens clothes to Smile for the Child.Surplus clothes goes to the Nuns in Corfu Town.The clothes not suitable for the needy we sell at TheLighthouse in Gouvia on Saturday morning closed now till mid September. I hope to carry on in this way into this winter when we are needed most.We dont have a lot of cash ie nothing but when we need it FRIENDS come up with it.All of FRIENDS are the group some do some support.We need both players and supporters.Not only do we support financially we show people we all care.I hope this helps people understand what we are about and hope more people will join us .
