Due to the recent events surrounding Sonys pictures movie The - TopicsExpress

Due to the recent events surrounding Sonys pictures movie The Interview, we felt it important to let our patrons know our position on whether or not we would be showing this movie. The facts are pretty simple. We had the film scheduled to release on Christmas Day, along with the majority of theatres across the country. When word came down to us from Sony that they were pulling the release, that left us with a schedule that was incomplete, during one of our busiest times of the year. Sonys decision caused us to need to fill a screen and our options were limited due to the timing of the decision. We made arrangements with our other film companies to find a solution that kept one of our other movies playing for a longer period of time. In our industry, this is called a holdover. Its our agreement with a film company to continue to show a particular movie. And we gave our word that this is what we would do. Now, Sony has made the decision to release this film in a limited run at select theatres in a few markets across the country. Yes, we were contacted to see if we wanted to show the film with some stipulations attached. The main one was that it would have to be shown on Christmas Day. Since we have already given our word to our other film companies on our revised schedule, we are going to stand by our word. So, we will not be showing The Interview on Christmas Day. For over 100 years, our family has been in the movie exhibition business. Thats a long history of providing the very best entertainment for generations of movie-goers. In that time, when weve given our word to a film company, our word has stood for something. What has happened surrounding the release of this particular film, and with Sony, is a terrible thing. They have been a great partner of ours for a very long time, and will continue to be in the future. If our patrons would like to see this film, we will do everything we can to show it. However, to go back on our word to our other film companies on such short notice is something we just cannot do. Thank you for allowing our family to entertain yours during this, and many, Holidays to come.
