Though this has offended some people who accuse him of politicizing the constituency league, I actually think that it was a fair warning by him. The constituency league was conceived as part of a political strategy to pacify the unemployed youth and give them a semblance of engagement so that they dont rebel against political authority. It will not be fair to accuse Ntuane of politicizing what is essentially a political tool aimed at attracting votes. Ntuane is also correct to say that if BDP loses the league will disappear. If the BCP wins, we plan to create jobs through an aggressive industrialization strategy. We have set a target to beneficiate up to 50% of our mineral produce by 2019. Cutting and polishing 50% of the diamonds in Botswana will more than double the 3,000 jobs we have created in the sector. Setting up a refinery for our copper nickle and processing the gold that we mine around Francistown will open up further job opportunities. We also have soda ash to utilise and leather from the cattle. The BCP has also committed to ensuring that 60% of goods and services procured by government are procured from local industries which will allow for expansion of the industries and creation of additional jobs. This will be accompanied by a law on citizen economic empowerment which will open up opportunities for young aspiring entrepreneurs. Compare the above opportunities with the alternative of playing in the constituency league that attracts an average of 10 teams in a ward (each team with about 20 players) competing for a first prize of P 3,300.00 The youth have a choice in the coming election, vote for BDP and compete in the constituency league or vote BCP which will open up job and business opportunities. For the young people the question is, what is your choice?
