Duncan Lechesa © Backpagepix Polokwane City manager Duncan Lechesa believes his side can put a poor start aside and climb away from the relegation zone. The Absa Premiership rookies have lost their opening three matches in the PSL, but on each occasion (0-1 v Maritzburg United, 2-3 v Bloemfontein Celtic, 1-2 v Platinum Stars), the Limpopo side have lost by only a single goal. Lechesa believes he has the nucleus of a good side, but admits that his squad needs to be re-enforced. There is little room for error in the top flight, and sometimes just a split-second’s lapse of concentration from a young player can prove to be the difference between a point and no point. It’s for this reason that Lechesa makes no secret of the fact that he is looking to make a few new signings as soon as possible. “When I look at the squad I see a lot of exciting young players, players who have the potential to shine in the top flight,” he told PSL.co.za. “But I will be honest, we are lacking experience, in two or three positions especially. We are looking to address that in the next week or so. “Once we have some more experienced faces, they will be able to guide the young players, who will continue to grow and develop as the season goes on, with each game they play they are learning fast.” The former Free State Stars, Black Leopards and Ajax Cape Town player remains adamant that the pointless start will not affect the morale of his young side. “They are professionals, and they know that games are lost. As a coach I make sure that heads do not drop and that the players realise there is a long season ahead. “That said, there are elements we must improve upon when we play our next game – against Arrows we must get a positive result. “We need to keep the ball better, we are giving the ball away far too easily. And the players must show more fight, more hunger and determination on the park. Admin #gee
