Dungarvan Painting Grant Scheme Following representation by the Dungarvan & West Waterford Chamber in relation to the continued economic stimulus of Dungarvan a number meetings took place between the Council Executive, Dungarvan Town Council Councillors and the Dungarvan & West Waterford Chamber. Following brainstorming and debating a variety of initiatives are being rolled out. The Dungarvan Painting Grant Scheme is designed to improve the appearance of the traditional town centre of Dungarvan. The objective of the scheme is to encourage communities to invest in buildings to enhance the character and appearance of areas and to reinforce local pride in the area for residents, businesses and visitors. Painting Grant Scheme will provide a financial incentive to building owners and occupiers to invest in the visual appearance and maintenance of their buildings and to help improve the character, appearance and overall attractiveness of the traditional town centre of Dungarvan. 2014 is the first year that the initiative will be implemented. The scheme focuses on the traditional town centre of Dungarvan, including O’Connell Street, St Mary’s Street, Parnell Street and Grattan Sq. Funding Funding of up-to €600 is available for painting residential and non-residential buildings on O’Connell Street, Grattan Square, Mary’s Street and Parnell Street. This funding must be used to either hire a painter/decorator to paint the building or to purchase supplies and paint it yourself. Applicants must provide the following: The completed application form • Two itemised quotations • A current Tax Clearance / C2 Certificate of the supplier or contractor • A photo of the building • The proposed colour scheme Please note that there is a limited budget for this scheme. In the case that the programme is oversubscribed, Waterford City and County Council will determine priorities based on the impact that it will have on the presentation of Dungarvan Town Centre. The assessment criteria are set out below.
